Tassel A Go-Go

If you know me, you know that I'm currently obsessed with two pieces from ASOS. Just a simple black romper and a black off the shoulder (with tassels). I wore both while I was in Mexico because they're both simple pieces to throw on for dinner or a day in town.

I wore the tassel dress to dinner since I prefer wearing dresses out to eat. The dress is still in stock in regular and petite sizes as well as other colors. I've linked them all below. If you're looking for a simple, off the shoulder dress, I recommend checking this style out.

Here are some similar options as well:

I've had this romper for awhile, and it's very versatile. Perfect for a warm vacation destination, or it can be paired with a jean jacket for a night out with the family. It's not available any longer, but I've linked some similar rompers from ASOS

Travel: Mexico

Since I've traveled to Mexico quite a few times recently, I thought that I would share some of the places I've stayed as well as things to do.

Playa Del Carmen

Fly into: CUN,  Cancun

Places to Stay: Azul Fives, by Karisma
My family and I stayed at Azul Fives. They have restaurants and bars on property, as well as pool, tennis courts, and beach access. They have golf carts driven by resort staff to help you get around as the property is quite large. There are also monkeys living in the trees on property.

Things to do:
My family and I went to Xel Ha, an aquatic theme park/ ecotourism development. If you're looking for an easy aquatic activity, I recommend Xel Ha. There was plenty of snorkeling to see the biodiversity within the park, which opens to the ocean. Plus, this development includes the natural landscape surrounding the area. I also recommend just going to downtown Playa Del Carmen for shopping and food.

Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Vallarta

Fly into: PVR

Places to stay: Vidanta resorts (Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta) and Westin Resort and Spa

Things to do:

I recommend taking a day to go downtown Puerto Vallarta. There are plenty of shops, flea markets, and happy hour stops to make a day enjoyable. You can purchase art, jewelry, clothing, and normal souvenirs all along the boardwalk. I recommend walking all of the way down the boardwalk
between New and Old Puerto Vallarta. Don't be afraid to go walking to find art and jewelry galleries.

If you want some excursions, I recommend booking them through your concierge or using Vallarta Adventures for your excursions. There are plenty of maritime and land excursions to keep you busy.

Vidanta Resorts, Nuevo Vallarta

Places to eat:

I don't remember places I ate during my previous trips to Puerto Vallarta, but my friend Ashley and I walked down to La Barra Cerveceria, which was right down the road from our hotel.
Tacos el pastor from La Barra Cerveceria

Cabo San Lucas and Cabo San Jose

Fly into: SJD, Los Cabos International Airport
Places to stay:

  • Cabo San Lucas: Sheraton and Westin
  • Cabo San Jose: Vidanta
If you're looking for a 'party' scene for a spring break with your college friends, then I suggest Cabo San Lucas. Cabo San Jose has more art galleries and is much calmer than Cabo San Lucas.

Things to do:
I definitely recommend water excursions. You need to see the Arch from the water. Also, in the winter there are whale watching excursions and I definitely recommend doing those. The Arch is usually included in most water excursions because the Cabo San Lucas marina is right by the Arch.

I love to go downtown in both cities to just walk around. Both cities are very walkable and very scenic. Also make sure to check out the marinas for the views!

Side note: I've lost all of my pictures from Cabo after switching over computers except for this one.

Early Summer Reads

I just returned from a trip to Mexico, and I read 10 books while I was there. If you're looking for some quick, summer reads, highly suggest all of these!

The Adults by Alison Espach
Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler
The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman
This One is Mine by Maria Semple
Today Will Be Different by Maria Semple
The Vacationers by Emma Straub
The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler
The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
Ajax Pneumbra 1969 by Robin Sloan
(the prequel to Mr. Pneumbra's 24-hour Bookstore)

Just Finished: Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews

Honestly, in my opinion, Me, Earl and the Dying Girl did not live up to all of the hype. However, I am up to watching the movie to see if I like the movie more than the book.

Up Next: The Circle by Dave Eggers

Keep up with what I'm reading by following my Goodreads here.
