Hoosier Hysteria: A Tradition Unlike Any Other

"In 49 states it's just basketball, but this is Indiana."

It's a motto that Homegrown Hoosiers like myself have grown up knowing by heart. We sit there and watch the games in the living room with our families, but there is truly nothing like sitting in Assembly Hall with thousands of other students and Hoosiers alike cheering on the Men's and Women's teams as an introduction to the season.

As a freshman, Hoosier Hysteria is the first glance many of us get of the players. Some started waiting Friday to get an amazing seat Saturday night. I didn't do that because of studying, but those people have hearts. Hoosier Nation, the affectionate name given the Hoosier fans got to experience a brand news tradition starting with the Men's basketball team members of the class of 2018. At IU, the tradition of the Candy Stripes is strong and respectable, last night Coach Crean began a tradition of alum players giving the new players of the team their Candy Stripes. It's an honor for any Hoosier to wear those pants, but I'm sure that receiving them from IU MBB Alumnus made it all the sweeter.

It was an experience that I'll never forget and I cannot wait for basketball season!

Started by the street, ended up at the Hall.
