Mainly Monday: Weekend Round Up

I had a very busy weekend so here's another weekend round up for Mainly Monday!

1. Quals
Quals, it's the precursor to the best college weekend in the country: Little 500. Greek houses gather to cheer on our teams as they cycle for a qualification for the big race (Little 500) that is later in April. With a loud wake up call at 5:30 am(!!!!) on Saturday morning my sisters and I were up and at it to celebrate the day to to the full extent. Full disclosure, I got on top of a roof way too much Saturday.  Meet some of my wonderful sisters!

OOTD: Quals shirt with an Indy 500 theme
LuluLemon yogas
Urban Outfitters flannel
Phi Mu fanny pack
Bean Boots

A guy asked me why we were all wearing flannels because it wasn't Friday and I asked him why all of the guys were wearing hockey jerseys. That shut him up really quick.

2. Initiation
It's official: I'm finally a sister of Phi Mu! My weeks as a provisional member are over and I'm so glad that I'm part of such a fantastic house. I didn't get an pictures with my friends, but below are some pictures with my Greek family!

OOTD: ASOS dress (may or not be the same one from NYE...okay yes it is// unavailable)
Shoes: White Franco Sarto wedges (I want these in Cognac, too)

3. Miss Greek IU
Delta Chi Fraternity at IU has been hosting Miss Greek IU for the last four years to raise money for their philanthropy, The V Foundation. Last night they unveiled a check for over $60,000!! I attended to watch a fellow sister who was Miss Phi Mu and another friend that was there representing another house. I'm so proud to be part of a Greek community that is so philanthropic!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Friday Find: Fish Therapy

So over spring break I kept seeing fish therapy offered almost everywhere. First, I saw it in several downtown Playa del Carmen/ Rivera Maya while I was shopping along 5th street (avenue, I don't remember). Then it was at Xel-Ha, which is where I got it after snorkeling with my dad. Let me tell you, it is so worth it! My feet hadn't felt/looked that good in ages. It was so worth the money. Sadly, my feet are already back to being victims of walking all over campus, I'm sorry feet, I really am.

What is fish therapy?

  •  Name: Ictiotherapy
  • What: The fish that are used are part of the carp family and are called "Garra Rufa" aka the fish doctor
  • Why:
    • To treat eczemas, psoriasis, and old scars.
    • To stimulate blood flow, which is stimulated by the suction from the fish.
    • To relax the hands and feet. (I hadn't felt that relaxed in ages)
I got all of this information from Xel-Ha, but I'm sure you can find more online.
For just $15 dollars I got to experience this therapy for 15 minutes. I highly recommend it!

I even got my dad to do it!

Will you consider fish therapy?

This is not a drill ladies! The Lilly Lookbook for Lilly is up now! Forget all responsibilities for the next 20 minutes and check it out! I am actually so excited for April 19th to get here, hello to my birthday week and hello Lilly for Target!

Here are some of my favorite pieces of the collection, can you tell that my favorite pattern is Sea Urchin for You? I must have the iPhone case, but I suppose I need an iPhone 6 before I get the case, don't I?

All pictures are from the Target site, here
Please please please forgive the poor picture quality, my computer is hating me today. (I'm blaming it on the bug that's on my table at the library).

What will you be getting from Target?

Mainly Monday

Happy Monday everyone! I'm back from Spring Break feeling rejuvenated and ready for the last seven weeks of school (including my birthday of course)! Here are some of my recent favorites from spring break and beyond!

-one-
Longchamp

S/O to the Cancun airport for having Duty Free right after security and a perfect Longchamp section to go with it. I added to my Longchamp collection by purchasing this coin purse and this toiletry bag (to use for my pencil pouch for school). My dad was not happy with how I chose to spend my money, but honestly, I don't use much cash at school so I just went ahead with it. (Sorry dad, I do love you, I promise).

I'm also in love with this season's colors! Especially the coral red and green!

-two-
Fish Therapy

I got fish therapy while at Xel-Ha on Thursday and I highly recommend it! Watch out for a post within the next two weeks about my fish therapy and what fish therapy actually is! I promise that my feet are still attached to my body.

I promise that I'm wearing Norts in the this picture

-three-
Noodles and Co

I honestly just added this because I'm eating Noodles right now, but I suggest trying the mac and cheese with grilled chicken (it's my favorite)!

-four-
Family

It was really nice to spend a week with my family! My Nana (my grandmother) tagged along with us for break and although we weren't as fast paced as usual, it was still an enjoyable time. We ended spring break on Sunday (March 22) by celebrating my dad's birthday at one of my favorite restaurants in town. I'm so blessed to be able to travel with my family!

 Meet my parents:

~Happy Birthday Dad~
(I posted this on my personal Instagram, yes I am that basic)
-According my friend Eric, hi Eric I know you're reading this, my hair is not on fleek in the bottom left picture, but who's hair is after a night in Mexico?-

Keep your bloglovin' or blog tabs updated because I'll be posting a lot of posts this week and next week. Also, don't forget to follow my Instagram: @hoosierstateofprep!

Going For What You Want

I'll be honest, I don't know what I want anymore. For the last six years all I could think about was wanting to become a doctor. I would write on boards at church camp that to spread God's light that I would go on medical mission trips and help those who need it. I would tell everyone that I was going to be the first doctor in my family, and they all asked me to find a better treatment for arthritis (no joke). But now I have no idea if I still want that.

I spend so much time studying The breaks in between classes are spent studying in the union. Nights and weekends are spent at the library with friends and sisters. I'm not sure if I have the passion for medicine anymore. Chemistry has killed my passion. It's hard to come to terms with that, and I hope that something else will bring the passion back because I still want to be a doctor, but the passion is gone. I'm not meant to be in a chemistry lab doing stoichiometry problems. I'm meant to be learning about anatomy and how the different systems correlate with each other.

I'm meant to be Meredith Grey. I'm meant to be great and doing something for others. I just don't know how to get there anymore.

Show You Care

"Friendship isn't about who've you've known the longest. It's about who's walked into your life and said "I'm here for you" and proved it." - Unknown

I'm sitting in my dorm room thinking about what I was supposed to do Saturday night, but know that God had better plans for how I would spend it. Earlier Saturday night the IU community learned of a death of a student and her mother in a deadly collision and immediately the greek community was there to give condolences to the student's sorority. Plans were canceled for the night and my sisters and I were urged to hang out with our friends and think about how much they mean to us. And that's just what I did.

Instead of spending the night dressed in a tutu, I sat on my bed watching TV and eating cheesy bread while sending text messages to some of my closest friends. Ironically, my three closest friends go to different schools and I would like to think that my little message brightened their days just a little bit. A message to a friend or family member doesn't need to be long, it just needs to convey that you care.  I told my friends that I loved them and that I valued our friendship and that I'm so glad that we're friends.

It's difficult to think that at any moment you or any of your friends and family could be delivered to Heaven and you wouldn't get to say goodbye. I can't remember the last time I gave my best friends hugs, but I can remember the last times that we had a ridiculously long conversation over text message and the times the helped me during recruitment. I can remember the moments that matter. The coffee dates, the homework dates, the Student Council shenanigans, and the tennis bus fiascos. And I miss them, but the memories are there.

I can't imagine a world without my best friends being a simple text or call away. I don't want to either.  I can't imagine a world without my parents and packages that were accidentally sent to my dorm instead of the house. I can't imagine a world without my Nana and her face when I ask if she wants to go to church.

Please, take some time out of your day to tell the people that matter in your life that they matter. You never know what could happen. One of you could end up being in a collision with a semi and not surviving. Before that happens, pick up your phone and send a message. Call someone. Tell the people that you love that they matter to you.

You never know what could happen.

And to my friends that read my blog, I love you and I know that we will be bugging each other when we're eighty and senile.

From Bloomington to Irvine and from Bloomington to West Lafayette, you know who you are and you know that I love you .

Coffee Drinkers Unite

I just got done reading Meredith's, from Monogram Meredith,  "Coffee Talk" post and it got me thinking: I order a different kind of coffee drink depending on my mood.

My drinks:

Iced Caramel Macchiato- My go-to drink. It's kind of like my best friend when it comes to studying. Although I think it might be partly responsible for the Freshman 15.

Mocha- A trusty old favorite and the first coffee like drink that I actually purchased.

Banana Mocha- A drink that I can only get at cafes in my hometown and that I miss dearly. What's not to love about bananas (can you tell I'm an athlete?) and mocha combined? Nothing. And I highly urge you to try it out.

Americano- For those days when I've barely gotten any sleep, i.e. last week when I slept 8.5 hours out of 48 (I do not recommend that). However it's too bitter for me to handle so I usually end up not drinking all of it.

Iced Coffee- I'll take an iced coffee over regular brewed coffee any day that I feel like I need refreshed. It reminds me of being refreshed before a day on the beach...speaking of which, T minus 9 days until I'll be on my way to Mexico for Spring Break (I'm such a traveler at heart). I'm seriously missing Dunkin iced coffee because the closest one is an hour away and I don't have my far.

Spring Must Haves

Since I saw a cardinal on the way to class that means spring is just around the corner right? Ahhh, a Hoosier can hope.

Mother Nature seems to be as tired of winter as we are and graced us with rain yesterday, hello Great Flood of 2015. Here are my spring must haves for spring 2015:

***note: I had no idea that the rain jacket that I clipped from Polyvore was youth, so here is an adult one **

Mainly Monday: Weekend Recap

Big/Little Reveal

Last week was my sorority's big/little week ending with the reveal on Friday. I will be completely honest and say that I had no idea who my big was from the clues she gave me during the week. I got clues everyday, delivered to my dorm by a "minion" at various times. On Thursday, we received shirts to wear on reveal night. Each "Greek family" had different shirts. Friday night we all waited anxiously to meet our families armed with quotes given to us by our bigs.

I had only met my big once previously, but I was still so happy to see her on the other side of the door along with my gbig and ggbig. Just from the interactions we had had on the Facebook page that she had created I knew that we would get along so well. Without further ado, meet my Greek family! We're the sickest (literally my ggbig, gbig, and I were sick on reveal night) tall fam on the block (our shirts said "new 'little' on the block').

Maroon 5 Concert in Indy

If you have a chance to snag a ticket to one of the remaining concerts on Maroon 5's 2015 tour, please do! It was an amazing concert, and what I could tell, completely live. Adam and the rest of the band even began singing Payphone a cappella! My parents treated my friend Sarah and I to dinner and the concert this weekend as a get away from campus (sleeping in a hotel for a night was such a relief). Our seats were two rows from the floor and reminded my of seats from the Bruno Mars concert last year! It was really interesting to see a preforming artist ask the audience to put away all phones and enjoy his performance for just one song. Adam asked the arena to put away all phones while he sang an acoustic version of She Will Be Loved (swoon).

I began taking pictures and videos on my phone, but my trusty iPhone 5s ran out of storage so I snagged my dad's iPhone 6 and took all of these photos.

As seen on my personal Instagram

And that's my weekend, unless you want to know about my Sunday full of shopping, homework, and laundry.
